Faith Comes By Hearing Receives Highest 4-Star Rating from Charity Navigator for Fifth Consecutive Year

Audio Bible ministry recognized as ‘exceptional’ – in top 4% of all charities – by leading charity evaluator in America

Albuquerque, N.M. – Faith Comes By Hearing (FCBH) is pleased to announce they have again been awarded the prestigious 4-star rating from Charity Navigator – the country’s leading evaluator of charities.  Being recognized for the fifth straight year elevates the ministry into the top 4% of all charities which, according to Charity Navigator, means FCBH “outperforms most other charities in America” and “demonstrates to the public it is worthy of their trust.”

In his notification letter, Charity Navigator’s President and CEO Ken Berger writes:

We are proud to announce Hosanna/Faith Comes By Hearing has earned our fifth consecutive 4-star rating.  Receiving four out of a possible four stars indicates that your organization adheres to good governance and other best practices that minimize the chance of unethical activities and consistently executes its mission in a fiscally responsible way.

This recognition is especially meaningful to Faith Comes By Hearing as Charity Navigator evaluates 10 times the number of charities than the next closest organization and draws more visitors to their website than every other charity evaluator combined.  Their two-part methodology – which focuses on sound fiscal management and commitment to accountability and transparency – has been covered by Forbes, Business Week and Kiplinger’s Financial Magazine.  Charity Navigator estimates their evaluations have “influenced approximately $10 billion in charitable gifts.”

Jerry Jackson, FCBH’s founder and president, states, “It has always been our priority to be good stewards with every donation given to complete our mission.  The best way to ensure accountability is to be open with our finances.  As an outside and impartial evaluator, Charity Navigator’s continued recognition of our transparency and fiscal responsibility is testimony to our current and prospective donors that they are giving to a ministry that is using their funds wisely.”

As Faith Comes By Hearing celebrates their 40th year in ministry throughout 2012, the ministry remains focused on providing God’s Word in an audio format to every nation, tribe, village and tongue.  They currently have Audio Scriptures in 627 languages that can be freely accessed on their website, via podcasts in their iTunes store, or on their free Bible app known as…

“Where’s The Line to See Jesus?”

Posted on Dec 22, 2011 in Bible on Social Networks, Default

There’s an email making its rounds with a song called “Where’s the Line for Jesus?”: Where’s the Line to See Jesus.  It talks about a child at the mall who sees the line to see Santa Claus and he innocently asks this question:

“Where’s the line to see Jesus…?”

A few years back ( before the advent of outdoor malls ) the mall in our town had a gorgeous life sized Nativity scene.  It was placed front and center as you walked in the mall.  A couple years later, it was placed back by the food court.

The last time I saw it displayed, it was tucked away in a nook on the far side of a failing department store.  I was glad to see that Chicago’s Daly Plaza still displays a Nativity Scene.

My question for you is:

Is there a Nativity Scene, in a mall or public place, in your town?

If so, share a picture with us on Facebook, Twitter or Google+?

The Bible.is Family wishes you and yours a very Merry Christmas!

Free Bible App Now Features Over 500 Languages…and Counting

Posted on Aug 10, 2011 in Bible App, Bible.is for Android, Bible.is for iPhone, Default

In one month, Faith Comes By Hearing has more than doubled the languages offered on their free Bible app, Bible.is. Just last month, the world’s largest Audio Bible ministry announced that the app contained 218 languages. That number now stands at an astonishing 542 languages, which are accessible on the app and website – many with text and audio. The ministry is working toward having both text and audio available for every language on the app.

Bible.is was introduced as an iPhone app just a year ago. Today it is also available for iPad and mobile Android devices, as well as on the web at http://www.Bible.is. The app has now reached 5 million downloads.

Originally only functional in English, the app can now be downloaded for navigation in seven additional languages, including Spanish, Chinese and Arabic.

“Our progress over the last year has been nothing short of miraculous, but I guess that should be expected when you’re working for the Creator of the universe,” quips Troy Carl, Faith Comes By Hearing’s national director and architect of the ministry’s Digital Bible Project.

“In all seriousness, we realize this technology is a gift from God. And we are humbled to bring honor to Him by providing free access – in the heart languages of the world – to the saving message that is found in His Word.”

Bible.is belongs to the larger Digital Bible Project, which has become the world’s largest, standardized, digital resource of Bible text and audio. The ministry currently holds word-for-word Audio New Testaments in 565 languages, with a goal of having 2,000 such recordings by 2016. Current estimates show this will represent a potential outreach to 97% of the world’s population.

“The fulfillment of the Great Commission is no longer a hope…It’s a reality.” -Troy Carl

In addition to the Bible app, Faith Comes By Hearing offers free access to Audio Bibles on their website via streaming and downloads, with podcasts available in their iTunes store. For those areas that do not yet have regular access to the Internet or mobile devices, the ministry continues to reach out by providing Audio New Testaments on a solar-powered device called the Proclaimer. As of this release, more than 290,000 of these devices are proclaiming God’s Word around the world.
